Les eaux du nil porteront le linceul

EGYPT, 2024

This series is born from my deep exploration of the spiritual currents that flow through Egypt, where the lives of Muslims and Coptic Christians are intricately woven together. Two faiths rooted in the same sacred earth.

Through the lens, I sought to capture the essence of a universal spirituality: the art, the ritual, and the faces that embody an everyday faith. I witness a profound parallelism in the everyday faith, a shared lexicon of devotion.

I was struck by the mirroring of their rites: the texture of prayer, the geometry of supplication, and the mesmerizing cadence of the Arabic language that flows through both liturgies, effectively bridging the silence between the Mosque and the Church.

This body of work is a visual meditation on the universal; a testament that while the Divine resides in the deep intimacy of the heart, the land we tread is a communal blessing. To walk this earth with a gaze of unconditional love, stripped of discrimination, is perhaps the truest form of worship.
